Provisional Tax Assesment: activate, change or stop

With a preliminary assessment, you pay your income tax in advance in monthly installments, based on an estimate of your income. This helps avoid a large tax bill at the end of the year.

Have The Bookie change your assessment

We’re happy to help. Send us an email if you want us to change your preliminary tax assessment for you.
Note: this is not included in your subscription. You can find our current rates for extra services here.

We’ll need your expected **profit** (not turnover) for the year.

Apply for a preliminary tax assessment yourself

You can apply for a preliminary tax assessment through the Dutch Tax Authority's website:

  1. Go to Mijn Belastingdienst and log in using your DigiD.
  2. Under ‘Inkomstenbelasting’ (Income tax), choose ‘Voorlopige aanslag aanvragen’ (Apply for preliminary assessment).
  3. Enter your estimated income and deductible items.
  4. Review your data and submit the request.

Change your preliminary assessment

If your income changes — for example, due to fewer or more assignments — you can update your assessment.

  1. Log in again via Mijn Belastingdienst
  2. Select ‘Change preliminary tax assessment’
  3. Adjust your figures
  4. Submit the update

Cancel your preliminary assessment

Do you no longer want to pay in advance? You can cancel the assessment.

  1. Log in at Mijn Belastingdienst
  2. Select ‘Cancel preliminary assessment’
  3. Confirm your choice

Note: You will then pay your tax after the fiscal year ends. Make sure to set aside enough savings to cover a potential lump sum payment.

Tips & notes

  • You can apply, change or cancel a preliminary assessment as often as needed.
  • A realistic estimate helps you avoid surprises later.
  • You will receive confirmation by post and/or in your Berichtenbox on Mijn Belastingdienst once your request is processed.
