Box 3 | Report actual returns: what do I need and how do I do that?

From the summer of 2025, you can report the actual return instead of a fictitious return (i.e. an estimate). You will then receive a letter for each year that you are allowed to complete the form. Until then, you can check what you need to prepare via the link in the letter.

Did you receive the letter stating that you can report your actual return to the Tax Authorities? Then you need information to complete the Actual Return Statement form. The Tax Authorities do not have this information. So you have to collect them yourself or request them from your bank or insurer, for example. This form is not part of the income tax return, but a ready form that is only submitted separately AFTER the income tax return.

The Tax Authorities assume that you will do this yourself. Of course we can happily take on these extra tasks for you. This is not part of your standard subscription. Please contact us in due course.

Never pay more tax than the fictitious return

If when completing the Actual Return Statement form it appears that the actual return is higher than the fictitious return, then do not send the form. You will not pay more tax than we previously calculated based on the notional return. Not even if you accidentally send the form.
